Gratitude
It has been said that “a picture is worth a thousand words,” so this Thanksgiving blog post will be short!
Thanksgiving Dinner
Photo of our Thanksgiving dinner with 20 of us around the table getting ready to eat! We feel so grateful and humbled by our many spiritual and temporal blessings!
We all took turns saying what we were most grateful for on this special Thanksgiving Day. I shed a few tears as I spoke of the miracles of God the last few years, both big and small, which had allowed our family to be together this day. Without His divine intervention, we wouldn’t have had this day of rejoicing with our family and friends.
After dinner family time!
These are photos of our family group after dinner and before we started eating pie! It’s not always easy to get a group picture with such a wide variety of ages, but it’s definitely worth the time it takes. Of course, we always need a “funny face” photo at the end! I always breathe a sigh of relief when our photo session has been accomplished!
Getting ready to make pumpkin pie!
David traditionally makes pumpkin pie with the youngest children who are old enough to stand on a step stool and help—this time it was our 4-year-old granddaughter and grandson who are twins!
A banana for banana cream pie!
All the pies were labeled by name, and each person talked about the pie he or she had made before we ate them. Several pie makers followed recipes; others created their own recipes! We appreciated everyone’s hard work, love, and creativity as we all baked pies together the day before Thanksgiving!
This is a video of our many delicious Thanksgiving pies—
Most of us love to make pies, and this has been a family tradition of ours for many years! This year we made:
Pumpkin Pie
Traditional Apple Pie
Lattice-top Apple Pie
Lemon Cream Pie
Biscoff Marshmallow Pie
Candy Cane Pie
“Cheyenne Special” (Fresh strawberries, homemade toffee, homemade caramel, cool whip!)
Snickerdoodle Pie
Brownie Sunday Pie
Banana Cream Pie
Coconut Cream Pie
Oreo Pie
Instant Chocolate Pie
Homemade Chocolate Pie
Cheesecake with Fresh Blueberries and Raspberries
Funfetti Cake and Brownies (baked by our grandson who doesn’t like pie! Haha)
Papa Time!
The oldest of our group—my husband David (Papa)—crawling on the floor with the youngest of our group—our baby grandson Beckam! He couldn’t bake pies, but he could certainly entertain all of us!
Gratitude—A Spiritual Prescription
Russell M. Nelson
I have concluded that counting our blessings is far better than recounting our problems. No matter our situation, showing gratitude for our privileges is a unique, fast-acting, and long-lasting spiritual prescription.
Simply stated, “In every thing give thanks”
