Women of Conviction—Spiritual Capacity
Throughout my life I have sought to understand how to receive and act upon personal revelation from the Lord. I used to be afraid that if I did pray and feel a spiritual impression that I should do something, I would feel embarrassed or unhappy after I did it. That has NEVER happened. Instead, I always feel joy.

Spiritual Capacity
by Michelle Craig
As I was leaving a Young Women camp this summer, a sweet young woman handed me a note. In it, she asked, “How can I tell when God is trying to tell me something?” I love her question. Our souls long for a connection with our heavenly home. We want to feel needed and useful. But at times we struggle to distinguish between our own thoughts and the gentle impressions of the Spirit. … My desire this morning is to speak to you from my heart about four ways to increase your spiritual capacity to receive revelation.
1. Be Intentional about Creating Time and Space to Hear God’s Voice
2. Act without Delay
3. Get Your Errand from the Lord
4. Believe and Trust
…Each of us has a different mission to perform, and at times the Spirit may call us in “another way.” There are many ways to build the kingdom of God as covenant-making, covenant-keeping disciples of Jesus Christ. As His faithful disciple, you can receive personal inspiration and revelation, consistent with His commandments, that is tailored to you. You have unique missions and roles to perform in life and will be given unique guidance to fulfill them.
“Freely given to us of God”
As I reflect on these scriptures from the New Testament, I truly believe God wants to give us personal revelation to direct our own lives and to bless the lives of others.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
